These include plumbers, electricians, mobile retailers, food delivery drivers, and HVAC technicians heading to Clover dale. Most of them are white, but a few stand out because someone took the time to make the side of those vans something worth noticing.
That’s the main idea behind vehicle wrapping.
You already own the vehicle, and you already pay for the gas, insurance, and parking.Wrapping your vehicle is a marketing choice where the biggest cost—your car—is already in your driveway.
At Fleet Signs and Wraps, we have been wrapping vehicles for Surrey businesses and drivers for a long time.
We know the difference between a wrap that looks great for six years and one that starts to lift at the door handles within eight months.Usually, the difference comes down to three things: the type of film used, how well the vehicle was prepared, and the skill level of the installer, especially when working around mirror housings.
What a vehicle wrap actually is
A wrap is a large sheet of printable or colored vinyl film that is applied directly over your car’s factory paint.
It is heated, stretched, squeegeed into the body lines, and then trimmed. When done properly, it looks like it’s painted on.When done poorly, it looks like a sticker.
The film is placed over your clear coat without permanently bonding to it, which is why wraps are removable.
For leased vehicles and fleets that are resold, this feature is especially important.Your original paint remains underneath, protected from rock chips, UV fading, and the road wear that comes with a Lower Mainland winter.
We use cast films from 3M and Avery Dennis on.
Cast vinyl is thin, flexible, and dimension ally stable, meaning it conforms to curves and bumpers without shrinking over time.Cheaper calendered vinyl is less expensive upfront but tends to pull away from recessed areas within a year or two.On a flat trailer panel, calendered vinyl is acceptable, but on a Sprinter with deep body creases, it isn’t.
The options, in plain terms
A full wrap covers every painted panel.
It offers maximum visual impact, full coverage of the original color, and the best protection for the paint underneath. If you’re looking for a color change or a design that wraps around the vehicle without interruption, this is the best choice.
A partial wrap covers the sides, rear doors, and possibly the hood.
For many trades businesses, this option is the best balance. You get your logo, phone number, services list, and a strong color block for a noticeably smaller budget than a full wrap.
Decals and lettering are the lightest option.
These are cut vinyl graphics, including your logo, business number, and website. This is ideal for a clean white cargo van where the white color already matches your brand.
Fleet graphics focus on consistency.
When running five, fifteen, or fifty vehicles, each one should look like it comes from the same company. We create template files for each vehicle model so that unit thirty matches unit one, even if they are three years apart.
Color change wraps are more personal.
They include satin black, gloss metallic, color-shift films, and chrome deletes. These are popular on trucks and performance cars and are easier to reverse than a full respray if you want to sell the vehicle.
Why wraps make sense in Surrey specifically
Surrey is a spread-out city with areas like Newton, Guildford, Fleet wood, South Surrey, Halley, and Port Ells.
Getting between these areas means spending a lot of time on King George Boulevard, Fraser Highway, and the 91 and 99.A wrapped vehicle is noticeable throughout the entire trip, including when you’re parked at a job site in a residential cul-de-sac for four hours with neighbors walking by.
This is something people often underestimate.
A wrap isn’t just seen in traffic—it’s also seen in the customer’s own driveway, which is one of the warmest impressions you can get from local advertising.
The cost math is straightforward too.
A well-made wrap lasts five to seven years.Spread across that lifetime, the monthly cost is lower than what most businesses spend on a single week of digital ads, and it continues to provide exposure without the need for bidding wars.
Our process
We begin with the vehicle, not the design.
We consider the year, make, model, and trim.
A 2019 Transit and a 2023 Transit have different door seams.
It’s important to know exactly what we’re printing for.
When it comes to the design, please provide your brand files or let our designers create something for you.
Our approach is straightforward: someone driving past at 50 km/h should be able to understand what you do and how to reach you. That means using large, clear text, high contrast, and removing everything that isn’t essential.Every extra line you add makes the important information harder to read.
We print and laminate.
We use latex and eco-solvent inks, followed by an overlaminate that protects the print from UV light and wear.Skipping the lamination step is why wraps often look chalky by summer.
We prepare the vehicle properly.
It gets washed, degreased, and wiped with isopropyl.Where practical, we remove door handles, mirrors, lights, and trim.Vinyl doesn’t stick to dirt or wax, and shortcuts in this step can result in bubbles forming in just three weeks.
We install the wrap indoors.
Controlling temperature and dust is essential. The film is heated and post-heated into the recesses to ensure it holds its shape instead of sagging later.
We return the vehicle with detailed care instructions.
These include how long to wait before washing, how pressure washers affect edges, and what to avoid using a brush wash for.It takes just two minutes to follow these instructions, and it can add years to the life of your wrap.
Looking for high-quality vehicle wraps Surrey? We specialist in custom car wraps, van wraps, and fleet graphics designed to make your vehicle stand out on the road.
What it costs and how long it takes
Pricing depends on the size of the vehicle, the area covered, the type of film used, and the complexity of the surfaces.
A sedan with a partial wrap is a completely different job from a cube van with roll-up doors and rivets.Cut vinyl lettering can cost a few hundred dollars, while full colour-change wraps on large vehicles can cost several thousand.
Most single-vehicle jobs take between one and three days once the design has been approved.
Fleets are usually scheduled in batches so you never have to be without more than a couple of units at a time.
The honest answer is that we’d rather give you an accurate quote based on your actual vehicle than just give you a number.
Please send us photos, and we’ll provide a real quote.
Making it last
Hand wash your vehicle whenever possible.
Keep pressure washers away from edges and seams.Remove bird droppings, sap, and fuel spills quickly because these are the things that actually stain vinyl.Park in the shade or indoors whenever possible, because UV light is the slowest form of damage.Avoid using automated brush washes entirely.
If you follow these tips, a quality wrap will still look great years after a cheaper one has been removed in frustration.
